Robert Drummond was a dedicated life member of the Manoa Fire Company, which he joined at the earliest opportunity allowed by the age requirements. His involvement extended beyond membership, as he contributed to the construction of the 1941 Dodge Fire Truck while also working as a professional firefighter at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. During World War II, Drummond served in the Army Air Corps as a Crew Chief with the 8th Air Force, stationed in England.

After the war, Drummond, alongside his father and brother, played a significant role in establishing the Drummond Scientific Company, located in Broomall, Pennsylvania. Within the fire company, Bob held numerous key roles, including several terms as Deputy Chief, the second-highest rank in the company. A member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, he actively participated in numerous training programs.

Even in his later years, Bob remained engaged with the fire station, frequently visiting to stay updated on developments and to photograph new fire apparatus. Notably, the last vehicle he photographed was the 2006 E-one Rescue Truck, a vehicle dedicated in his memory.

Bob Drummond and his wife Catherine (Cass) raised a large family with a strong emphasis on the importance of education. In his honor, the Robert Drummond Scholarship was established to help Manoa Fire Company members and their children pursue further education, reflecting his lifelong commitment to community service and development.
