FIRE PREVENTION OPEN HOUSE

Friday, October 8, 2010 Friday evening the Manoa Fire Company held their annual Open House during the National Fire Prevention Week.  This year things were done slightly different, with the help of Collingdale Fire Department (Station 06) and their "Fire Safety House" Trailer.  Judging from the smiles of the kids faces, it appeared as though the entire evening was a huge success.  Kids were able to learn via the interactive training trailer how to safely exit a home during a fire emergency.  For the time that the children were not in the trailer, Sparky the Fire Dog was able to answer any questions they may have had about how the volunteers of Manoa Fire Company keep the community safe.  Currently, plans are in the works to make next years open house even more impressive, in hopes to teach even more members of the community how we as volunteers protect the Township of Haverford.  A huge thank you goes out to the members of the department for helping out on a Friday night, Collingdale Fire Department for staffing their trailer on such short notice, and the neighborhood for making everything worth our time.  Without the general community nights like this would not happen, and we as members of that same community are pleased to help out in any way we can.
